Moving Catalog DVD into Catalog VHS

I am in a fix, WE are fixing to renovate a store and we currently have a New Release Section with both VHS and DVD side by side.
We also have a dvd catalog wall, where we put out "LIVE" all of our catalog dvd set out at an angle on the wall grid racks.
We are wanting to use this space for something else and would love to Catogorize our catalog dvds into the correct sections with our catalog vhs, but i am running into a space issue.
I was wanting some input as to how you display yours or how you handled this perdicament in your stores.
ANY REMARKS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
GREG

I currently have my entire catalog mixed (dvd & VHS). I have only one facing of a title and then I put the VHS & DVD behind the same facing (live inventory). If I have it available in both formats I put the Dvd cover box out. It seems to be working very well for and I don't get complaints from the customers. However, one thing that I am going to do, so that the customers know that both formats are available, is to put a sticker on the cover box saying that it is available in both formats.
hope this will help you. it works for me.

We have 5 tiers of pricing.
New Releases (VHS and DVD) $2.50
Nearly New VHS $1.50
Classic DVD's $1.50
General Releases $1.00 (though we on Tues-Wed-Thu they are 2 for $1)
Children's VHS Free
Right now our catalog VHS is MUCH MUCH larger than our catalog DVD, though it is obviously growing at a tremendous rate. We price our catalog DVD's a little more than catalog Generals because let's face it, how many stores that are 20 years old have some VHS that are that old and still play fine? DVD's are far more fragile and prone to not working.
We put our kid's DVD's in with classic dvd's for the same reason. Our kids movies are pretty much trashed often enough. They come back with jelly fingerprints, etc... <shrug> They are much easier to clean than DVD's if for no other reason than it is usually just on the case, but a dvd handled by a kid would be a nightmare.
AS for space.... wish I could help you there. We are 800 sq feet total (including a small store room) and have somewhere between 3,000 and 5,000 movies. We are looking to move into a larger location very soon, but for now we are stuck here so everything except new is 90% bookshelf. Some people actually like that.
Rich.
