I'm curious as to what the inventory is for a video store. I was thinking that around the ball park of 2 thousand movies would be about right. Am I way off in my mark. I'm trying to get an idea of how many videos I need to have on hand.

Thanks,
Brian

Wow, that's a lot. Did you grow that over the course of time?
Thanks,
Brian.

We took on about 2000 old titles, 90% of rentals are new releases so I wouldn't spend to much on old films, your inventory will increase naturally anyway. We used to give the movies away for free with the food and the old movies customers could keep for a week which was quite handy as an order the following week would mean we could collect the movie with the next food order. Helps encourage repeat custom, but we found there is little demand for old films.

8500 over time but I still add old titles weekly. I buy anywhere from 75 to 150 dvds a week from pawn shops. I resurface them and any that I don't have goes out for rental. The ones I do have I sell.
My 5 for 5 for $5.00 special does well and  is a big part of my business.

I've got about the same number. Tiptoen- how much space do you have and do you display like a library?
I do a 5 for $7 for 7 days and it does pretty well. The store is about 3000 sq.ft. and I now have to display a number on edge.

3900 sf. We stagger/overlap the older titles and display new releases face up.
