I only used videoretailer.com once before it went member only, but what exactly is it? I am trying to decide if it is worth it to program my own (yes I am more than capable of doing it). What features would we want on a new one?
It would take a few volunteers to spend 1/2 hour or so a week to make sure it was up to date, but most of the data can be gotten from Amazon's XML api service. Including description, reviews, cover photo, SRP, dvd extra's, and more stuff that escapes me.
What I don't know is what features do people want? Or is this not something people want?

The one thing that I found most useful on videoretailer.com was there very in depth description of the movies that were coming out. They would give buying tips on how to purchase your movies. An example of how they would do Anger Management is first a full description, then they might say something of how this is a waste of a good pairing but should still appeal to normal Adam Sandler fans, so buy the same as you did with Mr Deeds. It's alot more helpful for titles that aren't as easy to know how deep to buy. They pointed out more information but it has been a while, so can't remember everything. I just remember it being pretty helpful.

It was nice having all the IMPARTIAL information in one place. They told if it had been on TV, made for TV, hold backs etc. Gave good references to how they thought it would rent.
It's sale and resulting closing kind of irked me, as I was one of the few that antied up dollars to get it going or was that to keep it going? But now I'd have to rejoin VSDA to get on it, BS
