With in the first few months of 2010 Blockbuster closed roughly  3-4 stores in The G.T.A. ( Toronto, Canada ).

In November another store closed.

Today another store has the closing sign up with 30% off, Store closing, final sale etc.

The store that closed today was a major store in the heart of the city.

At this rate Blockbuster will disintegrate by April, 2011.

Still waiting to see if the one closest to me is going to be closing.  From what I understand they are only closing about 170 stores here in the USA during Qt. 1.  I've read somewhere that they are trying to extend their bankruptcy for some reason and that is why they are only closing a small number of stores in QT. 1.  That's just what I'd read, whether it is true or not, I don't know

These are actually two stores that were close to me. The one that put up the store closing sign yesterday is only 3-4 blocks away.

Trust me if this store closed here in Toronto, Canada the U.S. stores are VERY close to closing. I predict it will be April of this year. Supposedly some kind of collateral was put up against the Canadian stores for the U.S. Bankruptcy. If that is the case then collateral is almost gone now.

That actually is very telling b/c the Canada stores were the one's considered to be doing fine.  Of course without Redbox and Netflix to compete with, duh.  With Netflix pushing into the Canadian market recently, that collateral took a *huge* hit.  I don't think its any coincidence that the store closings in your area came not even a couple months after Netflix introduced a 7.99 streaming option there

I spoke with the Manager at the Blockbuster that closed today and was told he knew since last month ( December ) that they would be closing in January.

He said they expect to close by January 22 at the latest. If they clear inventory quickly they will close sooner.

I'm still going with my April 2011 prediction of Blockbuster being completely obsolete. Now if we could get rid of the REAL problem " PIRACY". !

How many times have you heard " I have seen that movie already ". such and such gave me a pirated copy of that movie to watch.

Are the studios completely blind to all of this and who IS profiting from the piracy Huh
