This is getting ridiculous! Now the buffing pads I just bought for my JFJ Easy Pro are disintegrating! Specialty Store Services said that they've brought the problem up to the manufacturer but they claim it's the machine. How's this possible when it's the pad that is so soft it's shredding away after about 20 1 minute buffs? 20! It's supposed to get like 200! One pad fell apart after 5 turns! Help!

I have also had this happen to every pad for the last six months, talked with the man that says "he invented" the jfj and he stated that I was not putting enough compound on the pad...I tried putting even more on, still did not help.  If you figure this out, I would sure like to know myself

Not enough compound?! I used nearly an entire bottle on one pad! When I first got the machine 4 or 5 years ago they used to say that after the first couple of times of loading up the pad you wouldn't need to do it as often. I do remember that it seemed to hold the compound better. I would've thought that they had changed the compound and made it thinner but this was an old bottle. Besides, the pad is softer and wears unevenly. It's even leaving swirl marks and it's never done that before.
Is there like an oily residue on the disc after you buff it? This is new too.
What can we do? Who can we complain to?

How can I get in touch with this idiot and tell him that they've changed the pads on him. I want to give him a piece of my mind! Not enough compound, indeed! I'm also not very happy with the design, you can't use the pads all the way down, but that's another story.
This pad problem has to get fixed. This is the only machine I can afford and the cost of pads and compound is getting prohibitive!

Actually I love the machine. I got about 500-1000 discs out of 3 pads. I need new ones but I don't want crappy ones. Smiley Wonder if we can find a replacement. It is a standard size.

I was really considering buying one of these Easy Pro machines in the next day or so. I can not find anything better for the price, but i have only read BAD things about these machines. It seems that for every 10 complaints there is 1 person who will say all is well in wonderland ?

For the money, I don't think you can beat it, but with this new found problem with pads, you might be thinking twice.

I have had my machine for about a year and I love the results that I get.  Sure, I still get the occasional disc that I can't repair here and there which I am sure the RTI machine would handle no problem but at this time I just can't afford the RTI machine.

Eventually in a year or so I think I will upgrade, but for now, the JFJ is serving me well.

Unfortunately I do need to order pads shortly myself, hopefully the issue gets fixed soon.

The machines are ok. I've not had any real problems with mine since the first machine I had had to be replaced. It was out of balance or something. It vibrated like an out of balance washing machine. I don't use the sanding pads. I've never had good luck with them. They would leave circles in the center of the disc that made the disc unplayable. (If anyone can tell me what I might have done wrong to cause this, please let me know.) Anyway, buffing is great on this machine and I like the result. Only other 'complaint' has been with the pad holder. I consider this a design flaw - you can only buff down so far before the disc hits the rim of the holder and messes up the disc. Gotta watch that.
Despite the problems, I really like the JFJ for the money. It has saved be a bundle over the years and I've even saved some discs for customers.
About the defective pads, Specialty Store Services is sending replacements for the two that I have tried to use so far. They have a staff meeting on Fri and the lady said that they would address the issue and take it up with the JFJ company.
The pads are too soft or something. I suspect that they aren't making them as densely as they used too.

I too am pleased with the results of the machine, the pads are the problem.  After they ware down a bit, they seem to stop crumbling.  We do use the sanding pads with good results the swirl marks are from the sand paper hanging over the pad.  We use scissors and trim the paper to fit the pad, (after it is stuck on).

It's not swirl marks that I'm talking about. It's a ring left around the center hole. Even the buffing pads do this sometimes if I've failed to 'grease' them up enough. As the info on that center ring is so important on games I put a circle of soft cloth under the cap to prevent a problem. That doesn't work for the sanding pad though, it destroys the cloth.

you may have to contact JFJ and get a replacement "arm". the older ones ie. pre-2009ish only have one bearing in them and wobble slightly.  The new arms have 2 bearings for more stability. mine did this with a slight vibration, after I installed the new one, no problem.

Thanks, Hamblin. Do you think that's what's causing the pads to disintegrate or are you referring to the sanding pad rings?

Videosilva, since you have a new machine, please post if you have any buffing pad problems.

I finally managed to test the EasyPro machine and few days ago and was quite impressed with it.

I did not notice any vibrations as others have mentioned.

My only gripe is that i believe i i used too much liquid on the pads thus causing a mess inside the machine.

As far as the pads are i am not able to compare them to anything else but they seem ok  ?

To clarify, my machine doesn't vibrate any longer. I'm pretty sure the pads disintegrating prematurely isn't related to any problem with the machine.
Videosilva, you're not using too much liquid. The mess is normal, unusually fast pad disintegration not withstanding.
