Well today I comitted to the new location and will be moving my store 7/6 to a new town about 20 miles away into and old Movie Gallery store.

Much more space, much more rent but much more traffic and the location is great. A corner store with about 10k - 12k cars per day going by. I did manage to contact the store manager who ran the place for 5 years and found out that at their peak (which granted isn't realistic in today's world) they were doing almost 2 times the volume in 1 week as I do in a month.

People are still driving into the parking lot not knowing it is closed. The back of the store faces the McDonalds drive thru lane. Hello yard signs.

Scared yes but I think the posibilities abound.

Good for you, I wish you luck. I wouldn't say this is an inde revolution. But we have daily been receiving phone calls from old video store owners who sold out to MG but still own the buildings getting back into the business some quality retailers. It's encouraging to see. We also have numerous MG/HV managers taking the plung as well.

I'm re-opening a MG store Monday and another in about 2 weeks. Both of these stores were doing great business prior to the liquidation.

I'm in NC. As soon as they announced the closings I contacted their headquarters about the stores and they sent me all of the financials on the stores from 2007 through March 2010. It was an easy decision after seeing what they were doing and how they were trending.

Fortunately you're in the flatter portion of NC!

Flick Video struck even before MG shut down.  They opened up one store a block away.

I would be all over this, but I've already got two stores and a college education to be worried about in a couple of years.
