Just some thoughts.

How hard are Sony, Lionsgate & Paramount officals kicking themselves for folding up some early?

Funny how at the start of the fight Redbox's public spin was that they were fighting the studios for the greater good of the consumer but in the end the true corporate greed shines through that the work around was just costing them too much.

Now the real fun begins, ie who is right?
Is Redbox over estimating the allure of their $1 a night model or are we under estimating the allure of the $1 a night?HuhHuhHuh

I have thought of experimenting with pricing on Warner titles.  What would happen if when Red Box gets the movie Blind Side, I reduce the rental rate to $1 and reduce the days from 7 back to 1?  Typically after 4 weeks we have sold off quite a few copies and it is starting to sit on the shelf.

Any thoughts?

As I remember the Paramount deal was made on a probationary basis and could change if Paramount decides it doesn't like the model. I believe the 28 day window will get them to follow suit with a new agreement.

This is really good news for IVRs.

It's not just Warner anymore. You would also have Fox and Universal. I think you would drive yourself nuts with all the changes and confuse the hell out of your customers.

Just enjoy the 4 weeks and sell your copies down to where they need to be for when the Redbox gets them.

Just my thinking.

Personally, I think whoever is left in Redbox is going to be sitting pretty.  They might be able to move more product.
