Now i have heard from alot of others that September is the slowest time of the year. Now normally i would order 12-15 copys on DVD and 2-3 on VHS, For the month of September should i hold back a little? Not order as much?

I see there is a few good titles coming out in September as well, I'm suprised it wouldn't help the month out. I mean there is 5 release dates in September. I guess my first September i will have to see how i do.

My store is NOT normal in it's trends. Last September was good for me and December was my slowest. (told you I don't follow the trends). We get an upswing during summer months and a down swing during winter.

Normally you will see two distinct periods each year that impact you as a rental business. This is by no means an expert model, just MHO. The months of Feb and September have a decline built into them. Actually about mid Jan into February is slow because the holidays end and the product from the studios go into a tailspin for major releases. Sept after the Labor Day weekend, kids go back to school and most people are a little more broke because of the added expenses. This might extend thru October. Also it seems the time change adds to this trend because of shorter days, longer nights. You might get a little play in the beginning of the month off the titles Identity and Man apart(Sell Though). Anger Management and Daddy daycare should be watch carefully as they will be mid month and Columbia did’nt give any deals on VHS here. You might get a upswing around the 30th with 2 fast 2 Furious but this also is a sell through and might be a mini titanic movie in which sells will drive this title. By no means is this fool proof and seasonal cities in resort areas generally have their own peak and declines.

Good luck and don’t sink your ship on overbuying the months.
