I can tell you one to stay away from "Ultimate" DOS based and hard to get meaningful reports out of it. I am currently looking at "Alerion" which is a downsized version on Pheonix.

ill chime in again and recommend Phoenix.  Its Windows based and pretty easy to work through.  Alerion is $900 cheaper I think but if you make it in the business there is no way it won't pay for itself.  If you don't make it its flushed money either way so just bite the bullet and pay the extra $.  Buy a few hundred less DVDs or whatever.

The software was fun and easy to learn and gives you information thats easy to understand.  As you continue to input more data and learn how to read the reports, the software will guide your business.  Make sure you put in good data and let it lead you.  I can't imagine trying to compete w/ the big guys in an already tough business using sub-par software.  Again, though, JMO.  Keep us update on what you get and how you like it!

Pay now or pay later. You might as well as pay now and save the money and frustration of switching "when you can afford it". Phoenix is the state of the art right now.

I tried the Demo version of Video Vision Plus and really liked it unfortunately it is too expensive. I ended up using 4POS Rentals ( $69.99 ). It does the job but is disappointing after trying Video Vision Plus.

I've been using Video Vision Plus since I opened 6 years ago and I really like it, but now I'm switching over to Rentrak and I can't find any software comparable that will do what this software does for the price.

Biggest mistake we ever made was not starting out with Phoenix, we didn't think we could spend the money either. We ended up using another pos for 2 years and finally made the switch to phoenix, which was a pain. Looking back, I don't care how much it had cost, I wish we had just spent the money on phoenix, you are gonna end up kicking yourself for not spending the money (at least we did).
