I am in the process of opening a video store but none of the four major distrib's (Ingram, Waxworks,  VPD, baker and Taylor) will allow me to open an account because either i haven't been open long enough, or, do not have enough cash in my bank account. Are there any alternative sources for movies for my store? Thanks in advance.

When i first opened my store back in April, I went through Pro Video, It's like leasing the movies it helped me get started but just wasn't worth staying with them since you lease the VHS for about $30 dollars and the buy out can range up to $10 dollars. But you can check them out if you want.

Our 'adult movies' distributor who also owns his own video store told us about a similar company he uses to lease dvd's. I think the company is called Infinity Games Entertainment... not really sure of the name.

How it works is you buy one dvd at regular price (around $20) and lease additional dvd's for around $10.  After 5 weeks, you return the leased dvd's.  There's no revenue sharing so you keep any money you make on the movies.

Seemed iffy to me, but he swears by it. I asked him what they, Infinity, do with the dvd's after they've been returned. He said that they don't sell them as used. Instead, they're returned to the studios.

Makes me wonder how they make profit.

Hmm

Kinda confused here, the majors won’t open you a net Acct? or they wont open you any Acct? Unless there is a major policy change, all should open you a COD Acct or prepay.
Then after awhile, you should be able to aquire terms with them. I would inquiry at Ingram first, as they carry all major studio lines. VPD also has all the studios, but I know from experience that they will be tougher. The other two are limited as they cannot supply you with some studios product( Universal & Warner & ColunMbia)

There are also company’s known as Sub Distributors, they buy all product and resell it to small IVR’s passing along the savings of goals to you. This will lend you cost savings from anywhere from $10-$30 a copy over the majors studios.

If you would like more info, please e-mail me and I will pass along several companys

Which one of these is pre-street if  you do COD/Prepay? I am thinking of Ingram since I need a poster program anyway...

They all do prestreet. I go with Ingram and use COD simply because it is easier for me. And to be frank, terms don't mean much after the first month because after that you are just paying the previous month's balance. It works out the same.

I'm really surprised that you couldn't get an account openned with VPD.  Usually they will set up a pre-paid or COD account with just about anyone.  Give me a call and let me know who you spoke with and I might be able to do something on your behalf.
