hello

does any know were u would call to report a video store renting and selling movies 10 days before they are released on the shelf's both for sell and rent?

I got a video store that keeps renting movies a few days b4 they are suppose to and I know I'm losing money to it and it pissing me off

I talked the to owner and he tells me he does it to make sure he makes money from them but I told him people keep telling me what his is doing and if a good movie comes out they go to him first because he has copies of it already DVD and blue

WHAT SHOULD I DO ??

Call his distributor. If he has the little magazines that we give to customers you can know his distributor pretty easy. Sometimes you can tell by their coming soon poster.

I had the same problem and I went through the chain of command with the distributor, the studio and then the distributors supervisor...the studio basically blew me off and my distributor and their supervisor told me "You have to do what ever it takes to compete in your market"  nobody was going to stop them, so join them.   I am not saying to or not...I tried to and my conscious would not let me, so I stopped.  But keep in mind, they said "no one is going to stop them"

                                             hope this helps

They get them 10 days prior? Are you sure these are legit copies or do they smell of ink? Smiley

I would rent one of these movies and see if it's legit.  Your sheriff might need to get involved.  Make sure you have a receipt to cover your ass.

What do you mean "all BLU combos"? And if they truly do say "not for indie sale or rental" you are dealing with a pirate. Studios are huge conglomerates. Independent businesses or "indies" are not even on their radar. They are not going to put a special message on their movies.  In fact Ingram and VPD are nearly off the studios radar not to mention BB and MG/HV.

you know when you buy a blue ray disc combo pack with a DVD of the movie some times it will say not for individual rental or sale

I understand. Maybe not a pirate but troublesome just the same. Good luck. There is so much leakage in the industry it feels fractured and broken. I'm not sure the studios even know what to do. Sometimes it feels that they are just trying to plug holes, long after a problem has developed.

10 days in advance is a HUGE length of time. I've never heard of any distributor shipping out that early unless it's at Christmas or something. I think I would call every major dist I could find (including the Disney club) and find out what their shipping times are.
Might these be from a foreign dist even if they are Region 1?

Just received my Ice Age - Dawn. BR Bonus DVD (from the BR 3-pk)  says "not for individual sale or rental."

They can't stop you from renting it or selling it seperately.
