Kerry,
I do indeed watch every movie that comes out that I put on my shelf. When do I find "the time". There is always time, after work as I wind down. I work seven days a week, 12 or 13 hours a day and I have not had a single day off since we were getting ready to open the store last August.
Not tired of it yet and I do enjoy having a media room to watch the movies in (both at home and at the store - see photo album).

Most of the "better" movies would fit in the "drama" section... at least in with my tastes of movies... like Ray, Friday Night Lights, Collateral... and some older titles.. 21 Grams.. and even Chicago.
Some are on the borderline of being an "action" movie like Collateral.
Most of my customers though prefer "action" movies because most of them want to be entertained and not have to think about what they're watching... mindless entertainment.
So, when someone asked me if AVP was good, I just say that there's a lot of action in it. Same with Cellular and the Manchurian Candidate. I liked Cellular actually, so I'd say it was good. Most of the time I'd just say a movie is "OK" and that's good enough for them.
Most people who rent comedies know that it'll probably be stupid, but they still rent it anyway. The Cookout and Without a Paddle did fairly well.
I think customers just want a little nudge just so they don't feel as guilty about putting down X amount of dollars on a movie they thought might be good, but isn't.
I have had on occassion not been able to watch a movie, but have been asked if it was good. If I sense that other customers liked it, then I would say that it was "OK"... or "It's got action". 8O
