so is it still worth getting video thru distributors even tho walmart sells them at 10 to 14 bucks each on release day?? I signed up with vpd just so I can get posters but they said I need a min of 600 a month to get them for 10 bucks
so I made an order and I was like SH*T thats a lot of money ended up making 1200 worth of movies lol long store short I got my movies and posters but I dont want to do it again next month

The average price at most Walmart stores is $17. Not $10-$14.

First of all it depends on the distance you are from Walmart. My Walmart is a good half hour drive. I am on Rentrak so I don't order often from VPD for N/A's but we do alot of special orders. Who is your VPD rep? I was told that the min. is $500 and that is just to appear on thier list and my posters are only $5. If I order $800 they are free.
My rep is Mike Mahr, he's the nicest guy in the world. I suggest seeing if you can get him.
One other problem with getting everything from walmart is you can't get them 'til midnight Tuesday. You don't have much time to process them b4 opening.
Just My Thoughts.

Totally agree about Mike Mahr. He has been my rep forever. Even before he came to VPD. I do get most of my movies from Walmart now as they are between 13.99 to 16.99 on most titles. They also will match Target if Target is lower. I go in a little early and get the movies ready. On average I'm saving about 800.00 a month.

I checked with my VPD rep, you were given the wrong info about the posters. As I said posters are $5 a month or free if you spent $800 two months prior. If you are only getting posters from them it is not worth it because if you are new to them they put you on COD terms and UPS charges $9 just to pick up a COD.
As I said I am on Rentrak and for July I am only getting 16 non-Rentrak copies of N/A's. That would save me $48 yes but two trips say $10 gas each, that brings it down to $28 saved. For me it's not worth it but to others it may be.

The other point to bring up is cash flow. When you buy from Walmart you are paying then versus 30 day terms with distributors.
My movies pay for them selves before I write a check.

your still not getting 30 days, but if cash flow and your time isn't worth that much it's your choice.
Walmart sent your former job, your famiy members jobs and your customers jobs to China. Not to mention the fact that they are the largest location provider for one of your biggest competitors ie. Redbox. But go ahead and support them.

My predecessor got her posters from WaxWorks for awhile until they told her that she need to spend a minimum of $500 a month with them. She then went to Ingram and got a year sub. of posters for $120.

I get my stuff delivered on the Thursday before street. If you are waiting until street date to pick things up you are behind the curve.
