A customer recently brought back a copy of Blindness and told me that her player froze once it got past the trailers. The DVD looks perfect so I popped it in my player here at the store.

Not only did it not play, but my player locked up. I had to unscrew it and get the DVD out of it.

I've never had this problem, wtf is up with this DVD?

ThomPotter, it sounds to me like the dvd has an unreadable sector on it.  Unreadable sectors can result in the dvd player locking up and being unable to read the remainder of the disc.  This is an error in replication and can not be repaired.

I hope that this still helps you even though the topic is several months old.

Usually when this happens you can simply UNPLUG the DVD player...wait 10 seconds...plug it in and then eject the disc BEFORE it has a chance to load.

Much easier than taking your player apart  Shocked
