Does anyone know how to get a tape or something with new movies coming out playing in the store? Like when you go to BB they have it playing with new movies that are coming out. Just wondering if someone knows of any company that would do it for me. Thanks

I do not know how it is in the states but here all BB have a dish antena and they get a feed from a satellite that BB has rented space.

Look at the BB in your area and find out if they have a dish.

Ok, here is what I do. I go to http://www.apple.com/trailers and download the trailers for the movies I want to show.  Making sure to choose medium resolution (320X???) TV resolution is about that so it works out well.

Then I use a program called Tmpgenc(yes this is the actual name) to convert them over to VideoCD Mpeg format.

Then I use a freeware program named VCDEasy (http://www.vcdeasy.org to compile them into a video cd.

The only problems with this is that it is slow. The first time you make a disk it will take a few days unless you have an AWSOMELY fast processor and internet connection.

Here are the downsides. To save quicktime movies from the web you need Quicktime Pro (then you just right click on it and click save). The other downsides are vcd related. You get at most a little more than an hour of trailers. They are NOT DVD quality they are a little less and tend toward being a wee bit choppy. Only really noticable if you tried to jam it on a high end TV.

Or you can buy a dvd burner and just burn a dvd directly.

Yup, some dvd players will play vcd's other's simply won't. I have a mintek from Best Buy (cheapest available in december of 2001) and it will play anything. Doesn't mind scratches either.

Yeah it takes a while. Most the first time, I make 1 about once a month and just download the top 2 or 3 trailers and reuse the rest. I also inserted a couple of commercials (10-20 second music covered blurbs, including "Let's all go to the lobby")

As an experiment we added some older titles to the mix to see if their interest increased and it did, quite a bit in some cases.

Rich.

I use the Smart Screen DVD by Screen Play. You can choose exactly which movies you want to show each month, or show them all.

Their phone number is 1-800-742-1439, but you can get it from Ingram or any other Distributor.

I used Video Pipeline on VHS in the past, it was also good. I don't know if they have a DVD now, but I would guess they do.

That VCD thing sounds pretty good. I think I'll give that a try as well.

If you want a quick little thing to throw together until you get that done, you could just connect your DVD through your VCR and tape an hours worth of trailers from the DVDs. Most DVDs add the trailers as an additional feature. Even if your VCR enacts its copy protection, you can still tape lots of them by just going with the companies that don't add protection to their DVDs such as warner/new line and columbia/tristar.

If you don't have the time for The VCD thing or the VCR, Chris probably has the best alternative. Screenplay is pretty awesome and only about $20 a month. I was using them for a while but got into a little financial woes around tax time and had to cut back for a while. When everything is back to normal, I'll probably go back with them.
