I almost piped up at the Adult meeting in Chicago last month.  The whole industry is betting the farm on blu-ray, adult included, but I don't buy it.  I read that high-def can be a BAD thing for porn.  Too many pimples!  Shocked

I've got a PS3 and a surround sound system that has an up conversion five disc DVD player as the receiver.  I have a 50" 1080i HD plasma TV.  PS3 is hooked with HDMI and DVD player is hooked up with component cables.  There is almost no difference in watching a DVD and watching a blu-ray disc.

So do any of you guys rent blu-ray?  If so, how well do they rent?

Are you kidding? blu-ray is a HUGE upgrade over dvd, I have a high def tv in the store playing blu-rays and I have never had a day where a customer hasn't commented or totally freaked out about how awesome they look!

We rent blu-rays, we currently have over 300 blu-ray titles, we get people from way outside our normal range who came to us because we have blu-ray.

I would guess we have about a total of 100 blu-ray renting customers and I would say about 30 to 40 of those rent more than 3 times a week.

Basically we make a profit on new release titles (big name titles) and we haven't broke even on the older titles we brought in for title depth.

We add $1 to the cost if you rent a blu-ray

So normally a hot release is $3.99 for 1 day, hot release blu-ray is $4.99 for 1 day, older titles we do $3.49 for 7 days, blu-ray is $4.49 for 7 days.

We also have a subscription (only catalogue titles, no hot or new releases or adult).

2 dvds out at once is $19.99
2 dvd or blu-rays out at once is $24.99

etc (we have more subs, but we always increase the price for blu-rays).

You must not be using your hdmi cable or something, because to say there is no difference between dvd and blu-ray is 100% crazy, also make sure your ps3 is set to 1080 as well as your TV, etc. You have something majorly wrong with your setup if you can't notice a HUGE difference.

You say 1080i-  1080p is full HD.

That may be the problem.

How could I not be using the HDMI cable?  I also have HD DVR Direct TV.  I suppose I should correct what I said.  Of course there is a difference, but compared to the difference in SD and HD, it is no

How could I not be using the HDMI cable?  It's the only thing hooked to the PS3?

I also have HD DVR Direct TV.  I suppose I should correct what I said.  Of course there is a difference, but it is not as big a difference in SD and HD TV.

I also used to have a cheaper DVD VCR combo and there was a huge difference when watching it with that and watching a Blu-Ray on PS3.  With the new DVD surround system the difference is noticeable but not as much.

unless something has changed HDMI cables do not come with the PS3, you have to buy it on top on the high price.

I will say in my region Blu-Ray has a long way to go on the price before it impacts my bottom line.

Of course I bought it.  In fact, I have bought three of them.  Two for my plasma for direct TV and PS3 and one for my direct TV on my LCD.  I think they cost about twenty six bucks. They are high but they are worth it.
