Hello, Was wondering if i can get some feedback on other store's and seeing what you offer at your video stores that seems to work. Like let's take for example:
I started a DVD Pass for $5.00 a month and the customers rent as many DVD's in that month they want for only $2.39. So far the customers like it so i will stick with it.
Super Mondays 5 Movies For Five Nights For $5.00, This works pretty well, Just started this about 3 weeks ago.
Terrific Tuesdays, $1.00 Off New Releases.
So there are a few of mine, What are you trying at your store?

We have the 5 for 5 for 5 special on our catalog titles. But we run this special every day. Our single catalog movie rental price is $1.50 for 5 days. We get a lot of customers who start to rent 3 catalog titles & it is a no brainer to talk them in renting 5. It is only $.50 more but every little bit helps. We also have each Thursday a rent a new release or an adult and get another rental free.

Our weekday special has always been rent 2 get 1 free. This goes Sun thru Thurs.
The reason we went for rent 2 instead of 1 was the following logic:
Most customers coming in on those days only want to see 1 or 2 movies. If they wanted one, great! I'll take their 3 bucks for their one movie and everythings fine. If they wanted 2, I want to get their 6 bucks and they can have that extra movie for free. The last thing I want to do is lose money that they intended on paying me in the first place.
Another special that we have is what we call our Movie Buffet for $10.
It is basically a 7 movies for 7 days deal on our catalog favorites. The hook that the customer likes is that we allow them to change any or all the movies each and every day during that 7 day period. The hooks that I like are that first of all, it keeps the customer coming into my store, which opens the possibility for additional buys(Candy, soda, that new releases that they didn't know came out today...). The second and best part is that we make $10 a week on movies that were just sitting there. There are alot of restrictions that you need apply but it works great for us. But in many areas, it may be difficult to pull this kind of program off.

I currently run a 3 movies for $5 for 3 days every Tuesday. My customers love it. This special also brings my customers back in on Friday to get movies for the weekend. Also, I just started having a Rent 1 Game get 1 game free on Mondays.
For what its worth, there is another store in town that has a Wednesday special of $0.49 on everything on Wednesdays. How can they feel that this is profitable for them. They have just started it so I can't yet see a difference in my rev because of it.

$0.49 on everything? That is simply crazy! It's one thing trying to run a good special trying to get more cutomers or extra revenue, but at that price, he is just asking for trouble. I think he'll find out that if he rents it for $0.49, he is immediately devaluing his product and he will have customers treat it as though it is worth $0.49. I wish I had him in my town

Would be interested in seeing his numbers though, wouldn't you? Certainly might get people in to see their store that might not otherwise. That has always been out problem, a lot of IVR's in this area are kinda dingy and trashy looking.

HI ALL,
OUR STORE HOURS ARE SUN-THURS 9AM TO 11PM AND FRI & SAT 9AM TILL MIDNIGHT. WE RUN A SPECIAL AFTER 10PM EVERYDAY THEY CAN RENT ANYTHING BUT RED DOTS FOR 1 NIGHT FOR 99 CENTS (RED DOTS BEING OUR SUPER NEW RELEASES 30 DAYS OR NEWER). THIS RENTS STUFF THAT WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE SAT ON THE SHELF AND IT IS DUE BACK THE NEXT DAY. CUSTOMERS LIKE IT AND ITS BETTER TO GET 99 CENTS FOR THE NIGHT THAN IT TO SIT ON THE SHELF.
