It is not officcial yet, but this morning I recieved Rentrak's monthly mag. and on page 8 it showed a couple of titles and read "just Announced, New Release Titles from Warner Home Video Now Available through Rentrak.

I called my account rep. and she said details are sketchy right now but it looks like Warner is coming back to them.

Now, wether or not they will have an output program like before, or what the terms will be, and if HBO stuff and the Raw Feed films will be avail. she did not say (know).

As I get more info, I will post it.

My rep called me today to tell me that  Lionsgate is now offering Blu-ray on Rentrak . She also gave me the details on what Warners output program will be like , but said that it is not set in stone yet.

Its interesting to say the least. Since it is not yet announced I really don't want to "spill the beans" publicly, but If any one would like to know the details, you can just PM me.

Its starting with "Bucket List" I believe and it will cover ALL Warner titles that are being released after that.

Yes, it will be starting with the June Warner Titles and going by the terms my rep gave me I like this agreement better with one exception that I can live with and hopefully my customers can to.  If anyone wants details you can email me at moviecritic202@yahoo.com.  These terms actually sound like they will work out better for us, but we will have to wait and see.

Will the CEO retract the statements he made about video stores last year?

Destroying them is the only thing I don't like but it makes sense that they want to control the amount of pre-viewed product on the market.

Now, I just hope that Buena Vista follows suit.  They have alot of stuff that if I had more available would go much better.

Field destorying them is a bit of a wringle in this agreement.

The other thing is that you not only have to destroy them (which they aren't sure what method they want to use) but you have to keep EVERY COPY you destroy for 90 days after the EOT.  My rep says that EVERY store that signs up for this agreement will be audited and that if ANY destroyed product is missing you will be charged 20.00 per disc.  So, now its just a matter of trying to figure out how to store the destroyed product and where.

I am opposed to destroying product.   I realize that they are trying to control the flow of used product and maybe it will help keep PV prices up, but destroying something that is still usefull is just not good.

If I look at the math it is not going to work for us.  On a larger title we will get 60 copies.  Destroying 80% means taking 48 away.  That leaves 12.  We would keep 2 for catalog.  There is only 10 left to sell.  We have worked to build up our previously viewed customer base and 10 copies is not enough.  Being in a college town, we get a fair amount of damaged and non-returned movies.  Where do these come from?  The 48 or the 12?

Not on board yet with this one.

Tom,

What were the pros and cons that made you decide on the warner program?  What other output programs are you on?

Steve, I am NOT thrilled with the Warner terms Angry...I doubt many are...in the end, I decided it was better than the alternative which is paying $19 per unit thru distribution and being forced to stock-out on major titles during the first two weekends Roll Eyes

This deal will also allow us to bring in direct to video product that we have been passing on Shocked

We are on ALL of the Rentrak Output programs except for BluRay Cool

Tom,  I am still on the fence on this one but I am leaning toward no.  We already bring in a fair amount of direct to video product.

I have a hard time telling someone that I can't sell them a used DVD.  People will understand a limited number of stock-outs when it is busy as long as it doesn't become a habit.  They won't understand why they can't buy a movie.
