Hello there!
My name is Joel S. Bachar and I am new to this list so I wanted to take an opportunity to introduce myself and my company, the Blackchair DVD Collection.

We are a new, small, independent DVD label AND distributor based in San Francisco and we are specializing in under-represented international independent titles on DVD.

We are looking to independent retailers such as yourselves to take note of the unique and diverse titles that we represent, because we feel strongly that they belong on the shelves of your store/s.

SOME of the 6o+ titles from international “micro-labels” represented by The BLACKCHAIR DVD COLLECTION are:

1.   RAINBOW MAN/JOHN 3:16 by Academy Award Nominee for     Best Documentary (WEATHER UNDERGROUND) director, Sam Green. Note:  Weather Underground streets on May 25th.
2.   SPECTRES OF THE SPECTRUM by filmmaker and agitprop genius, Craig Baldwin.
3.   EXPERIMENTS IN TERROR, Abstract and Experimental Horror
4.   THE SUBJECT IS SEX, curated by Stephen Parr, is a titillating romp through 70 years of erotica.
5.   “THE FILMS OF ZBIG RYBCZINSKI VOLUME I-III” feature short and long-form films and videos by award-winning director, Zbig Rybczinski.
6.   “PERIPHERAL PRODUCE: ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS,” a compilation of short films and videos featuring works by Miranda July, Matt McCormick, Sam Green, Bryan Boyce, and others.
7.   “D-TONATE” from the U.K. - a collaboration between digital filmmakers and musicians such as Scanner and Ken Ishii.
8.   “onedotzero_select dvd2” from the U.K. brings together the world’s best and most innovative talent in filmmaking, music video, motion graphics and club visuals, including exclusive shorts by Slinky Pictures, Johnny Hardstaff and Ed Holdsworth, and featuring music by Black Strobe (Output), Lambchop  and Legowelt (Ghostly).
9.   Aspect – Chronicle of New Media Volume I and II are bi-monthly DVD magazines focusing on international new media artists and curators.
10.   “URBAN VISIONS,” an urban odyssey experienced through 11 short episodes; and “LUST,” a collection of erotic short films and videos are on the LOWAVE label out of Paris.

We are more than happy to provide you with wholesale discounts on these and other titles. We also are just about to be set-up with VPD if you prefer to use them.  You can see our most up-to-date catalogue from our website, www.microcinema.com and/or we'd be happy to email you one.

I am extremely passionate about the *independent* arts - so I hope to work with independent video stores like you - there are some great titles out there and it takes creative people like yourselves to try something different. I look forward to hearing from you!

Kindest regards,
Joel S. Bachar, Creative Director

I got a couple of these titles and they're good renters:  RAINBOW MAN and SPECTRES OF THE SPECTRUM.  Great company, I'll definitely order more!
