Video / Tanning Employees

Hi Everyone,

We are in the process of adding tanning to our store.  For those of you who are have tanning, do you have separate employees for video and tanning or are they all cross trained in both areas?

Due to the shape of our store and the remodeling for tanning we will have 2 separate counters.  I know this is not the most efficient, but the video customers seem to be happy that they will not have to wait behind tanners to be helped.

The ideal situation is to have seperate employees for each that are cross trained to work either. As you know tanning really requires a completely different kind of employee. Tanning employees need to be great sellers and there is so much they need to know and learn to effectively promote the salon and maximize it's potential.

You will be leaving untold amounts of money in the pockets of your clients if you try to use the same employees for both. I learned this first hand!

The cross training is really a way to let employees take breaks without having a third employee on the schedule or to have backup if someone calls in sick.
