Hi, all,

I wanted to make sure that you know about the upcoming iDEA IndieEXPO at SEA. It will sail from OCT 15-19, and will take you to physical stops like KEY WEST, and COZUMEL, MEXICO, as well as proftiable stops like the many indie retailer events. workshops, seminars, and discussion. The high seas can mean high return on your small investment.

In addition, you will be amazed at the low cost of the entire trip, including meals on board and the EXPO. Do yourself a favor, and check it out at http://www.idealink.org/Resource.phx/idea/indieexpo/atsea07.htm

For you newbies on a cruise ship, you will be surprised how much fun you will have as well as how much you will learn and contribute at IndieEXPO at sea. For you veterans, you already know the ropes, and what better way to make it a better time than to buddy up with each other.

I'll start the fun and games off, first. There will be a lot of things to see and do during shore leave in Key West. I'm looking at a bit of a bar crawl. [I'm teatotaling right now, so none for me, please], but the experience will be fun, and I am also looking at the Pirate Soul museum.

On board, espceially as you get your sea legs, you will find plenty of retailers to help you get aquainted and into the EXPO. Both the iBOTS, the staff and the iSAC committee will be ready and willing to help you make the most of the EXPO.

We will be trying to put together a contact and info list, so that you don't have to lose time trying to find out where to go and what to do.

And we are looking forward to meeting you and/or seeing you again.

More details on events, seminars, meetings, and good times are coming soon.

AND...if you haven't signed up yet, this just might be the most cost effective and profitiable "working vacation" you have ever taken.

If you have questions, just contact Frank, Jennifer, and the staff, or e-mail me at ahickman@rcn.com or adrhik@gowebway.com.

Fascinating!

I wanted to bump this up again. The space is starting to fill up, the cost is amazing, but the sessions, workshops, and town halls will be what you need to grow your business. It will be worth it just to see the results for the AMAZING TRANSFORMATIONS results, which resulted in a 34% increase in revenue in one year.

iDEA is looking for the most cost effective and interesting ways to grow your business, and the cruise exceeds these criteria. I'd love to have you join us. This isn't going to be Vegas, it will be the next wave in potential business success.

Ya'll have fun.  I'm taking my kids to Disney two weeks prior, but I'm going to try to go next year.  I'm NOT going back to Vegas!

Marc,
What happened in Vegas? Or does what happened in Vegas, stay in Vegas?

What DIDN'T happen in Vegas is more like it...

I like Idea and love meeting different store owners to share tips.  However, this is the wrong venue for us.  We are no longer considered part of the equation to the bigwigs, even though I feel many of us can do well for years to come.

Sounds like independants we severely snubbed. So, who do they consider this venue is for, I wonder?

I agree with Marc...the Vegas venue is no longer working for IVRs...it appears the iDEA cruise is now the BIG event of the year. That being said, IMO iDEA did try...they put on iNDYEXPO and  seminars that would benefit IVRs so the snubbing really came from the IVRs and NOT the other way around. I would guess that IVR attendance was DOWN by more than 50%

JMHO

MEMO to EMA...don't waste your time pretending like next years convention is worthwhile for IVRs to attend...most of the IVRs that I talked to who attended this year have no plans on coming back to Vegas next year.

My first convention was two years ago.  It was vibrant, upbeat and well attended.  Has things really slid downhill that fast?

And Tom, there's a few of us really indie indies that are interested in Chicago next year if you are planning another event.

Marc part of it is things have slid a lot during the past couple of years Shocked...some retailer are gone and others just don't have the $$$ anymore. But I think the main reason attendance was down so much is that most IVRs have decided that the cruise is better in terms of both cost and as a learning opportunity Grin. I expect the cruise to sellout and get rave reviews from those who attend Cool.

As for another event in Chicago at The People's Choice I am all for it as long as our gracious host John Sarantakis is willing. I think that The People's Choice Event has turned into the #1 premier chapter event and our timing gives a nice spread in time between the fall cruise.

I think iDEA would be wise to promote it as a semi-national event Kiss.
