You can sign up for Rentrak, install the software and never buy a title if you choose. Some of the studios offer cherry pick terms so if the title you are interested in is from one of those studios then yes you can buy just the one title. The other studios have output deals which means you sign a contract agreeing to purchase all of the titles that a particular studio releases and makes available to Rentrak.

300 is not a Rentrak title. They currently do not have a rev-share deal with Warner.

300 is pretty much a used-dvd winner, much to the chagrin of Warner Brothers.  You can order heavy and pretty much guarantee that you can sell them all for $10 - 15.

I've got some 300 posters up already and I've got people coming asking where it is on my shelves.  Everyone wants this movie and they want it NOW.  Essentially I agree, this one will easily resell.

I'm thinking 300 will be a dude as far as rental goes because most people will buy it the first week from Wally World for $14.87...don't be too confident about those used sales...how many will want to wait several weeks just to save a few $$$
The big wild card on this title is will the lack of depth at BlockBuster drive customers to our stores? Shocked Roll Eyes Shocked

Good point about Wally...  I was going to go deep for my store, but not 'crazy deep'.  One block from my place is subsidized apartments so a portion of my customers are lower income people.  At least in my neighborhood these lower income customers are more prone to buying over renting.  So for my particular store, I do have a group of buyers that are willing to wait three weeks for me to start dumping my overstock.  Shrugs.

Ultimately, I'm just looking forward to have a title in the store that everyone recognizes!  These last few months have had a lot of scraps and left overs.  Tis the Season!
