I got bored earlier so I made a quick and dirty news aggregator for video related news. Video Store News

Anyway, let me know if anyone likes it well enough for me to finish it when I am less bored. Smiley

Looks good Rich.  Find as many articles on store closings as you can.   I'm making a special "I hate Netflix" wall next to my counter and these will help drive the point home.

Very nice Rich.

Ummmmm.... what does "finish it" mean?

Marc, there was an article I think in a trade magazine about a chain in Mass. closing it's last store.  I remember a line in it where an 8 year old boy with tears in in eyes was saying someting like "What are we going to do with this store here?"  That would be a good addition to the wall.

Yeah, I remember that one.  I think it was in one of the trades.

It should pick up national video store closings when it searches Yahoo and Google automatically.

As for finish it. I dunno, add some more categories, add search functions, etc.

Great idea!  Keep up the good work.  Videostorecentral is fast becoming a one stop source of information and a way to share ideas.  We just need a way to let more video store owners become aware of this great site.

Maybe it's just me, but the news aggregator doesn't seem to be working today Sad

I think it would be interesting to know how many actually read this site and just don't bother to post.  I do know some of us are the same people who post on the iDEA site as well (except this board is so much faster, easier to use and more practical than theirs).  I hope there are more people in the biz than just us few that post all the time!!  Come on, guys and gals, don't you have anything to say?  New ideas? Anything?

The news thingy isn't working tonight on my pc either...

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing too.  And given industry trends, I wondered if activity on the site has been shrinking in the past year or two.

As for more "lookers" posting - YEAH GO FOR IT YOU GUYS.  We'll be gentle.  This isn't a "flame" board like so many others.

My bad. I upgraded perl (the programming language it is written) and forgot to update the path in the program itself (no one cares I am sure), but it is fine now.
