Vifra

Continuing the idea of joining forces from my last post I will make another suggestion. Wouldn’t it be helpful if we could for example, make some type of company setup where we could create an image and some guidelines on store look and feel and market our independent stores as if where a franchise.

Example:

We would all change our stores to one name : Video World (just for demo purposes)
Chose our branding colors: blue, yellow, and red
Choose Logo

This would then provide us the ability to buy in bulk large quantities of polo shirts make membership cards like blockbuster buy those hanging cords blockbuster employees have for there id cards etc etc etc…..

This is a vague example of what I am suggesting, please can everybody give me there thoughts on the possibility of doing some thing like this.

Hardcopi

One of the problems though with being part of a franchise is the limiting of options. They require signs be of a certain size, that you get certain movies, etc... Also if you let one lazy rentailer into the mix then you end up with a bad reputation, then it travels to all the others. Not saying it is a bad idea, just that it needs a LOT of organization, etc. Basically it is starting up a franchise system.

You have a great point on a lazy bum giving the rest a bad name and there is a large set up of work to be done. If there was enough people interested in this idea I would provide another site to build this project I think in general the benifits would out number the drawbacks significantly.

Pat right on the money:

It would be like one large video buying supplies and so forth, again I am not saying the idea is simple it would be complicated to implement but for us that look at beign in the industrie for a long time I think is something to think about.

I am new to this business and these forums but as I did research I was wondering why there is not a co-op for IVR's.  I was thinking that if IVR's in a geographic area formed a co-op they could at least pool their buying power.  Could even have a small monthly fee and hire a full time emloyee to make and receive purchases, create the inserts, distrubute the orders to the IVR's, etc.    Or one IVR could just agree to take the lead.  Just a thought.  Anybody have any idea how much per video you might save if we bought 100's from a distributor instead of 20-30?

There is no doubt that joining forces would increase buying power and price negotiation. It would also give us the BB look but with no franchisse fees. There are significant pros to this ideas and in the long run I beleive they out way the cons. I have been really busy in other projects that I have and have not been able to dedicate much time to this site (Thank God for hardcoy) but I will prepare some kind of guide on what I think would work so everybody can give me there imput.

Hi to all.
